Xuanzang and his disciples happened upon a demon disguised as a woman in distress, shouting for help. The monkey saw through the ploy but Xuanzang intractably took pity on her and let her accompany them to a temple. Xuanzang got sick in the temple, where the demon ate many people. After realizing what was happening, the monkey decided to carefully fight the female demon. Defeated, the demon fled and kidnapped Xuanzang as she left.
